Learn about the interesting winter borders and containers throughout the Gardens from Bellingrath’s Horticulture staff including Dr. Barrick, Chuck Owens and Barbara Smith.

Porcelain Tales

Visitors to the Bellingrath Home are easily overwhelmed by the hundreds of pieces of porcelain within Mrs. Bellingrath’s Collection.  Join Tom McGehee, Curator of the Bellingrath Museum Home to learn more about the collection.  A special tour of the Bellingrath Home will follow his presentation.

Birding on the Gulf Coast

Dr. Mark LaSalle from the Pascagoula River Audubon Center will help us identify birds along the Gulf Coast and how we can participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count.  Weather permitting he will lead a bird walk through the Gardens.

“Mardi Gras in Mobile” Lecture & Book Signing

Mardi Gras in Mobile is the oldest Carnival celebration in the United States. We welcome Mobile’s own L. Craig Roberts, the author of this new book that explores the origins and unique elements of Mobile’s celebration.

Raising Roses

Linda Guy, Rosarian of Bellingrath’s award winning rose garden will show us how to care for roses year round.  She will demonstrate rose pruning techniques to get your roses in top shape.

The Amazing World of Orchids

Harry and Beverly Stephens from the Mobile Orchid Society will share their knowledge and love of orchids with us.  This is a great preview for this year’s Orchid Show which is being held at Bellingrath Gardens and Home on February 27- March 1.

 “One Writer’s Garden: Eudora Welty’s Home Place” Lecture and Book Signing

The garden at the Eudora Welty House in Jackson, Mississippi was a labor of love designed and created in 1925 by Chestina Welty.  It remains a labor of love for garden restoration consultant Susan Halton.  We are happy to welcome Susan to Bellingrath to discuss her book which beautifully captures the store of the Welty garden.
