Dr. Ken Tilt Will Discuss Lotus and Peonies at Bellingrath’s Wonderful Wednesday Program
Theodore, AL – Dr. Ken Tilt, Auburn University Professor and Extension Horticulturist, will talk about his exciting research on lotus, an ancient aquatic perennial that is native to China and has been used throughout the world for centuries as food, medicine and as ornamentals. The program will held on Wednesday, June 11 at 10:00 AM at Bellingrath Gardens and Home.
Dr. Tilt and his team have evaluated more than 100 small “teacup” lotus and several large cultivars for potential release. He will also talk about his ongoing research to find varieties of peony that may be adaptable to our Southern climates.
Every Wednesday, Bellingrath offers a special program about Bellingrath Gardens and Home, gardening, local history or nature. This year there will also be two programs for children. Wonderful Wednesdays are open to the public. Members are admitted at no charge and regular admission applies to non-members.
