Theodore, Alabama  - Bellingrath Gardens and Home's annual light display, Magic Christmas in Lights (MCIL),  will open on Friday, November 27, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.  This year there will be less delay and more display as tickets will be available for purchase online and at participating Regions Banks. To purchase tickets online, guests can visit www.bellingrath.org . Each visitor ordering tickets will have the option to purchase admissions to both MCIL/Gardens and the Bellingrath Home.  It is important to note that even though visitors will be required select a specific date in order to purchase tickets, all online tickets are valid on any night through December 31, 2009.  
  
Fifty regional Regions Banks will be selling MCIL/Gardens tickets at participating branches from November 20 through December 31.  All Regions tickets are valid on any nigh through December 31, 2009.   

 MCIL will feature over 3 million lights with 902 custom made set pieces in the 12 scenes that fill the Gardens.  Bellingrath has added a new beautiful multi-tiered fountain that will appear to cascade into Mirror Lake as well as over 100 new pieces that have been added to The Underwater Garden.  The new pieces include flounders, barracudas, turtles and clown fish.
 
All of the seasonal favorites are returning this year.  Guests will see Butterflies in Flight, Over the Rainbow, Peace on Earth, the Emerald Forest, Toyland, Candyland, Critter Cove, the Flower Walk, the Nativity, Lotus Land, Twas' the Night Before Christmas and The Underwater Garden. 
 
Visitors will not want to miss Bellingrath Museum Home as part of their tour.  It has also been wonderfully decorated for the season.  Tours are available daily from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
 

Each year during MCIL between Sunday and Thursday Bellingrath Gardens and Home hosts regional performing groups as they take the stage on the South Terrace to entertain MCIL audiences.  Choral groups from churches, schools and community organizations from around the region have been invited to perform Christmas carols and other holiday favorites. 


MCIL opens the Friday after Thanksgiving and runs through New Year's Eve.  The Gardens are closed on Christmas Day.  Normal operating hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm are extended until 9:00 pm.  Admission is $11 for adults, $6 for children 5 - 12 and children under 5 are free.  
 
Bellingrath's Magnolia Café is open each day from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm for lunch and from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm for dinner.   Dinner menus feature holiday and seafood favorites such as turkey and dressing, fried shrimp and seafood gumbo.
