Friday, November 6 & Saturday, November 7, 2009 

 

Theodore, Alabama - Bellingrath Gardens and Home's fabulous Cascading Mums will be on display throughout the Gardens...just beginning to show their color.  Guests are invited to bring the family and enjoy the activities planned for the Kiku Matsuri Chrysanthemum Festival. Kiku Matsuri is the fifth of the five annual festivals in the traditional Japanese calendar and the chrysanthemum is the official flower of Japan. It is a symbol of longevity, power, dignity and nobility.   

Friday, November 6 - 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Ikebana Arrangement Demonstration - Watch the Mobile Chapter of Ikebana International create arrangements for the display at Bellingrath. 

 

Saturday, November 7 - 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Celebrate Mums with an Asian Flair! - The Festival will feature an Ikebana Display, a Bonsai display and demonstration, a Sumi-e display and demonstration.  Guests will learn to make origami and help create a chain of 1,000 cranes.  There will also be an authentic Japanese Tea Ceremony in the Delchamps Boehm Gallery. The Fall Kid's Kruise will also be held on November 7 - 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
