Benny Campbell Returns to Mobile to Create Floral Magic

 

Theodore, AL - Bellingrath Gardens and Home is pleased to bring Benny Campbell, floral designer extraordinaire, to Mobile on October 19, 2011 to share secrets for creating arrangements in his signature style that is both airy and lush. Using an eclectic array of material and containers, Benny will instruct, inspire, and entertain you with his imaginative ideas for enhancing your fall and holiday tables and home. Benny was a featured seminar speaker on floral design at the 1999 Festival of Flowers and thrilled the capacity audience with his phenomenal talent and ebullient personality. He calls his arrangements “free-flow style with a southern influence.”

 

ABOUT BENNY CAMPBELL

 

benny-57wlogo_b2.jpgBenny hails from Gadsden, Alabama, but travels the country making floral magic. He creates floral designs for weddings and other gala events throughout the Southeast. He has also been a featured designer for “Art in Bloom” at the Birmingham Museum of Art and for numerous decorator show houses. His designs have been recognized by national publications and pictured in Southern Accents, Southern Bride, People magazine, and several issues of “I Do...” for Brides. 

 

Benny Campbell graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Landscape Design and Ornamental Horticulture, with concentration in Floriculture. He has since served as a lecturer in the Continuing Education Department of Auburn University in Montgomery and continues his teaching in the area of floral design at Snead State Junior College. He has been engaged as a speaker and designer for various state and local organizations on his own interpretations and methods of floral design and conducts class tours to flower markets in such exciting destinations as New York and London. In Gadsden, where he owns and operates the Attalla Florist and Design in nearby Attalla, he has served on the boards of the Theatre of Gadsden, Arts Council, Gadsden Museum of Art, and the Advisory Board of the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service.

 

Special Floral Presentations

 

Sophisticated Southern Style for the Holidays with Benny: Be inspired and learn from Benny Campbell how to create fabulous arrangements for your home at his presentation on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. – noon. Continental Breakfast will be served. The presentation will take place at the Junior League of Mobile Headquarters, 57 North Sage Avenue.

 

Walk and Talk with Bill and Benny: Meet at the Entry Building at Bellingrath Gardens and Home at 2:30 p.m. to tour Bellingrath Gardens and Home with Benny and Bellingrath’s Executive Director, Dr. Bill Barrick. They will talk about the fall plants and how to use them in your own garden and floral arrangements. The walk will be followed by a special tour of the Bellingrath Home conducted by Museum Home Curator Tom McGehee.  You will also see the Home decorated with exquisite arrangements from the region’s top floral designers.  At the conclusion of the tour, Benny will create a stunning centerpiece for the Bellingrath Formal Dining Room – the crowning touch! The afternoon event will conclude with a reception on the back porch of The Home. The Floral Showcase in the Bellingrath Home will continue through Sunday, October 23, 2011.
