Wonderful Wednesday - Alabama Afternoons Lecture and Book Signing

THEODORE, AL - Join us for Wonderful Wednesday at Bellingrath Gardens and Home on July 13, 2011 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.  The program this week will feature a lecture and special book signing with award-winning journalist and novelist Roy Hoffman.  Hoffman's featured book, Alabama Afternoons, is a collection of portraits of many remarkable Alabamians, famous and obscure. Written as Sunday feature stories for the Press-Register in Mobile with additional pieces from the New York Times, Preservation and Garden & Gun, these profiles preserve the individual stories - and the individual voices within the stories - that help to define one of the most distinctive states in the union.

Information about Roy Hoffman

Roy Hoffman is a staff writer for the Press-Register whose work has appeared in the New York Times, Southern Living, Fortune, and Esquire. He is the author of the nonfiction collection Back Home: Journeys through Mobile and the novels Almost Family, winner of the Lillian Smith Award for fiction, and Chicken Dreaming Corn, a BookSense pick.
