On May 11, 2008 Bellingrath Gardens and Home will host the 5th Annual Mother’s Day Concert. The Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra will perform on the Great Lawn at 5:00 PM. Families are invited to bring folding chairs, blankets and a picnic supper to spread out on the lawn as they enjoy the afternoon of music. Discounted admissions to the Gardens will begin at 4:00 PM. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase on the Great Lawn.
In addition to great music the Gardens will be full of vibrant color and beautiful plantings. The plants featured this May include: Cleome, Caladium, Roses, Fuchsia, Petunias, Salvia, Begonias, Plumbago, Impatiens, Marigolds, Shrimp Plant, Ornamental Peppers, Geraniums and Trailing Torenia.
The Youth Symphony is a full symphony orchestra of middle-school and high-school age musicians from across the Gulf Coast area. The orchestra provides strings, brass, wind and percussion students with instruction and experience as they learn challenging music and improve their playing skills.
