During the third weekend in April, the Mobile Rose Society hosts its annual Rose Show.  Rosarians and local rose growers alike are encouraged to bring their best rose blooms and enter them in the Rose Show.  Award-winning blooms and arrangements will be on display throughout the weekend.  On Saturday, learn from experts by attending free presentations on rose care and culture.  Cut roses and rose bushes are available for purchase in the Bellingrath Gift Shop and from Jim Mills from K&M Nursery.

After the show, visit the Bellingrath Rose Garden, named as the Most Outstanding Rose Garden in the United States.  Featuring over 75 varieties of 2,000 roses, the Bellingrath Rose Garden hosts colorful blooms from April through late fall.

The Mobile Rose Society meets every month on the third Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the West Mobile Regional Library on Grelot Road.  New members and guests are always welcome.

The Mobile Rose Society was founded shortly after World War II by Lou Costa, former Garden Editor for the Mobile Register, and is associated with the American Rose Society and the Royal National Rose Society.  Walter Bellingrath was one of its founding members.  Mr. Bellingrath's interest in roses was well known and is exemplified by the Rose Garden that bears the de sign of the Mobile Rotary pin, of which he was a founding member.
