Mobile Rose Society Annual Rose Show April 16 - 17, 2011
If you love roses or want to start growing roses, you will not want to miss the Rose Show at Bellingrath Gardens and Home. Amateur rose gardeners are encouraged to enter their best blooms in the show. Entries will be received in Magnolia Café from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18th. Judging will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The show will open to the public at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Members of the Mobile Rose Society will provide containers and tags as well as assist in identifying each bloom that is entered.
Rose Society members will also be available throughout the weekend to answer questions about growing and identifying roses.
The Mobile Rose Society meets every month on the third Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the West Mobile Regional Library on Grelot Road. New members and guests are always welcome. The Mobile Rose Society was founded shortly after World War II by Lou Costa, former Garden Editor for the Mobile Register, and is associated with the American Rose Society and the Royal National Rose Society. Walter Bellingrath was one of its founding members.
The Bellingrath Rose Garden, one of the Most Outstanding Rose Gardens in the United States should be in full bloom With over 75 varieties, the Bellingrath Rose Garden produces colorful blooms from April through late fall. Our gift shop will be stocked with books, supplies and gift items that are sure to please lovers of roses.
