Self-Guided Workshops
The self-guided workshops are designed for adult led groups who want to tour the Gardens on their own. Group leaders will have all the materials and information needed to investigate topics related to the Gardens and surrounding areas. The workshops integrate other content areas with Science so that students will have a better understanding of the relationships between the botanical sciences, the environment and our daily lives.

Bellingrath Gardens & Home will soon have two instructor led classes designed for elementary students - Is This Water Alive? and How Does Your Garden Grow?
Is This Water Alive?
This program takes place on the Exxon Mobil Bayou Boardwalk which surrounds the wetland area off Fowl River.

§ Discover the plants and animals of the ecosystem
§ Discuss the relationship between marshland and the river
§ Learn the history of the area and the relationship to Alabama’s economy of shipbuilding, shrimping, oystering and recreation industries.
§ Discuss the importance of preservation and conservation.
v Student Activities 
§ Take a self-guided walk on the boardwalk
§ Read informational panels and take notes
§ Observe animal and plant life from the boardwalk
§ Record observed data in Bellingrath journals.

How Does Your Garden Grow?
Students will visit a greenhouse to observe plant production and engage in activities to help them understand the life cycle of plants; including seed germination, growth and reproduction.
